Will I break out after a facial?

Breakouts rarely occur unless your skin is congested with blackheads or whiteheads underneath your skin. If this is the circumstance, you might experience some breakouts, nevertheless be assured they won't last for long.

How often should I have a facial?

We recommend a facial every 4-6 weeks; by means of this frequency we monitor your skin throughout the seasons and help you maintain a healthy and glowing complexion. However, if you are experiencing over stress or menopause your skin can be unpredictable and breakout; your esthetician may recommend more frequent visits until the problem is under control.

At what age should I start receiving regular facials?

Your mid 20′s to early 30′s are ideal unless you began to experience breakouts at an earlier age. We believe in early skin care education as many teenagers suffer from problem skin that is best addressed early on, having a visit to an esthetician can help treat and correct the problem.

Are scrubs bad for my skin?

Some can be, especially shell type particles like almond or apricot kernels scrubs that contain jagged edges and can harm the skin. Most professional exfoliators contain perfect round spheres that will exfoliate your skin without any harm.

What's the best way to prolong my facial?

We recommend being diligent with your home care program like cleansing, exfoliating, moisturizing and protecting. This will help your skin function properly and look its absolute best.

What benefits can I expect from using products that contain vitamin A or C?

These vitamins are the most effective age defying ingredients. They are very effective antioxidants that help protect your skin against environmental pollutants that can damage your skin. Vitamin C aids in collagen synthesis, restoring suppleness and skin clarity while Vitamin A increases elasticity and moisture content.

Can I wear make-up to the spa to receive skin services?

Yes. We will be glad to remove your make-up for you with the purchase of any skin service.

How often should I get waxed?

While each person's rate of hair growth differs from the next, based on a variety of factors like age, season, and heredity, we recommend once every 3 to 6 weeks depending on the length and quantity of hair. Ideally the hair should be between 1/8 inch to 1/4 inch long.

How should I take care of my skin before and after waxing?

  • Never go into the sun for 24 hours before or after getting waxed, it leaves you more vulnerable to burns and hyperpigmentation. Sunning includes tanning bed use
  • Do not get waxed if you are using any glycolic acid, acutane, retin-a, or anything that can alter your skin's natural balance.
  • Do not aggressively exfoliate the areas to be waxed for 24 hours before or after being waxed. This means that you should not receive any exfoliating body treatment during this time.
  • Do not use anything on your skin that contains perfumes or artificial colors after waxing.
  • Do not use body lotion before being waxed (it prevents the wax from adhering to the hair)

How often should I have a massage?

Studies have proved the many health benefits of massage from stress reduction to increased circulation and detoxification. The frequency of massage is very specific to each person, as some might have to receive a massage twice per week for back pain, or once per month for relaxation and health benefits. Ask your therapist what she/he recommends for you're individual needs.

Many individuals have some areas that that are ticklish or sensitive. Please inform your therapist prior to your massage of these areas. Keep in mind it's your massage and your time, so you can decide where you want and need the attention.

I'm pregnant, can I still get a massage?

We do not recommend massages during the first trimester of pregnancy. After the first trimester, your body is going through many changes and one of the best ways to relieve back tension due to baby weight is to experience a very nurturing treatment by a one of our therapists.

What is a stone massage?

Hot stones are incorporated into the therapy of the massage, allowing the heat to soothe and relax the body. This is not a deep tissue massage.
